  • SHOWER BEFORE MASSAGE

Let’s get one thing out of the way: experienced massage therapists agree that taking a shower before your massage is a always a good idea. You should rinse off perspiration or environmental pollutants before your treatment or therapy, because you don’t want all that to be rubbed into your skin. A shower will also help loosen up your muscles to help you receive more benefits from the treatment. Plus, it’s easier to feel confident and relaxed about the massage when you know you’re squeaky-clean!

Swedish massage

- this is a gentle form of massage that uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you.
Swedish massage therapy is the modality that comes to mind when most people think about massage.  As the best-known type of body work performed today, one of the primary goals of the swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body.  This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of the blood returning to the heart.  But swedish massage therapy goes beyond relaxation. Swedish massage is exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, decreasing muscle toxins, improving circulation and flexibility while easing tension.

Deep tissue massage therapy is similar to swedish massage, but the deeper pressure is beneficial in releasing chronic muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).

Deep massage -this massage technique uses slower, more-forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries.

A powerful massage designed to alleviate deep-seated tension and muscular stress through slower intense strokes and more direct pressure and friction. This massage helps to increase muscle flexibility, it also reduces discomfort from everyday stress, repetitive strains and muscular overuse. Includes: Specialised massage to specific areas of concern.

How does Deep Tissue massage work?

Deep Tissue massages focus on the realignment of deep layers of muscle and connective tissue, benefiting areas of your body where you may feel tension. This tension is usually caused by adhesions which are fibrous bands of painful and rigid tissue in muscles, tendons and ligaments that limit movement, cause inflammation, pain, and block circulation. The Deep Tissue massage restores normal movement.

Does Deep Tissue massage hurt?

You may feel some discomfort during your treatment and you should let the therapist know if you feel pain and you want them to reduce the pressure. It is not unusual to feel some pain and stiffness after your treatment but this should go away after a day or two, leaving you feeling relaxed.
